For some time there has been a debate about the effectiveness of regular soap and water versus antibacterial soaps. Research has shown that antibacterial soaps have not been proven to work better than plain soap and water, and actually, they be harmful. They contain an ingredients called triclosan and triclocarban, which may effect the way hormones work. The FDA is requiring all manufacturers to eliminate these ingredients from their products in the next year. Triclosan is also found in some toothpastes, but the FDA ruling only applies to soaps and body washes. As a consumer, it is important to read labels and to stay aware of what you are using, both inside and outside the body. Try to pick products that are as natural as possible to stay healthy and prevent bad side effects.
